About fire collars

Compliant fire collars tested to Australian Standards.

Promat’s range of fire collars are very popular with plumbers and are supported with over 30 years of testing to Australian standards. Promat fire rated collars are manufactured using intumescent technology. The collars are designed to maintain the integrity of the fire resistant element through which plastic pipes, combustible insulation, cables or fibre optic facilities pass. Promat fire collars have been tested in lightweight construction, concrete floor slabs, CLT, Speed Panel, AAC and a range of other substrates.

In the event of fire, the plastic pipe will start to deform. In the case of uPVC pipes this occurs at a temperature of approximately 70°C. Once the pipe starts to deform, the intumescent material in the Promat fire collar expands, closing off the plastic pipe or combustible insulation, and thus forming an insulating barrier. Progressive Materials stock the full range of Promat collars and can offer same day delivery.
