PROMASEAL® Fire Pillows are manufactured from treated cloth filled with a high density, granulated fire seal mineral wool. When exposed to fire, the pillows remain in place and char, thus forming a fire barrier of a solid mass of insulating material.
The pillows are used to maintain the fire resistance of walls and floors, where openings for services are located. They are typically installed around cables and non-combustible pipes which need to be regularly altered.
PROMASEAL® Pillows are available in THREE sizes:
- Large, 250mm x 300mm x 40mm
- Medium, 250mm x 200mm x 40mm
- Small, 250mm x 100mm x 40mm
PROMASEAL® Pillows have been successfully tested and assessed by independent laboratories to meet the requirements of AS 1530: Part 4 and AS 4072: Part 1 for fire ratings in excess of 180 minutes.
Fire pillows are a great fire stopping system, but there are instances where some of Promat’s other fire stop systems will be more suitable. For example: if a plastic pipes is to penetrate an opening which is planned for fire rated pillows. We would recommend installing PROMASEAL® Mortar or PROMASEAL® Bulkhead Batt so that the plastic pipe can have a fire collar installed to the plastic pipe, and to match our relevant Australian Standard approvals. PROMASEAL® Pillows are one of Promat’s fire stop products available from our warehouse in Wangara, Western Australia.
PROMASEAL® Pillows require approximately between 100 and 130 pillows per m² of an open area, without services. Promat fire pillows can be easily placed in many openings where it would be difficult to apply other products or wet systems.
In the case of smaller penetrations, it is often more economical to use the Promat pillows, because the required fire performance can be achieved with the application of just a few pillows.
