What kinds of metal ceiling systems do you supply?

We provide a full range of SAS International metal ceilings, including metal pan ceilings, linear ceilings, expanded mesh ceilings, open cell ceilings and acoustic rafts. We work closely with SAS to deliver innovative, quality options.

Why choose metal ceilings for commercial spaces?

Metal ceilings combine style and function. They offer excellent acoustic control, long term durability, fire resistance and low maintenance. They also allow clever integration of lighting and services.

How do metal pan ceiling systems like SAS 150 and SAS 200 work?

These systems use modular tiles that attach to a concealed ceiling grid. SAS 150 features hinge and slide tiles that pivot down for safe access, without removing tiles from the ceiling. SAS 200 uses hook on tiles with a hidden gasket that gives a clean shadow gap finish.

Can metal pan ceilings help with sound control?

Yes. Metal pan ceilings can be designed with acoustic fleece or pads to meet specific acoustic requirements. These materials absorb sound and enhance the overall acoustic comfort of a space. Depending on the system, NRC ratings of up to 1.0 can be achieved, with CAC data also available for added performance insights.

What are the benefits of expanded mesh ceilings like SAS Mesh?

Expanded mesh ceilings create striking textured patterns and add visual depth to any space. They are available in a wide range of patterns and colours, offering flexibility in design. In addition to their aesthetic appeal, they support airflow, provide effective service concealment, and allow seamless integration of lighting and sprinkler cut-outs. The result is a modern, industrial look that enhances the overall fit-out of a building.

What are acoustic baffle ceilings?

Baffle ceilings are vertically suspended elements. They absorb sound, reduce echo and improve speech clarity. They offer full access to the ceiling void and come in many forms, including linear, tubular and waveform types.

Are these ceiling systems durable and fire safe?

Yes. SAS metal ceilings are built for long life. Metal resists wear and cleans easily. All systems meet Australian fire safety and acoustic standards. SAS Metal and aluminium ceilings achieve group 1 fire ratings (AS 5637.1 : 2015).

Can these systems integrate lighting, services or ventilation?

Yes. All SAS systems can be customised to integrate lighting, sprinklers, HVAC or other services. Mesh, baffles and pan ceilings can include cut outs or custom made tiles for seamless integration.

Why work with Progressive Materials?

We are the exclusive WA distributor for SAS International metal ceilings. We offer advice, fast supply, specification support and technical help. We also lead in passive fire protection and acoustic ceiling design.

How do I choose the right metal ceiling for my project?

Start by listing your needs. Do you require acoustic control, easy void access, a specific aesthetic or shape? Then pick the system that best meets those needs. Our technical team can guide you if you want help specifying panels, finishes or layouts.

Are metal ceilings suitable for high humidity areas?

Yes, many metal ceilings are well suited to areas with higher humidity. Aluminium and coated steel options resist corrosion and maintain their appearance over time. Correct installation and ventilation will help the system last longer.

How easy is it to clean and maintain a metal ceiling?

Metal ceilings are generally very low maintenance. Panels can be wiped with a damp cloth or cleaned with mild detergents. They do not absorb moisture or stains like some other ceiling materials.

Can metal ceilings be used in fire rated applications?

Yes, metal ceilings achieve group 1 fire performance. If a fire resistance level (FRL) is required we can advise on specifications of a passive fire protection system. Progressive Materials can provide advice to ensure your chosen system meets the required fire rating for your project.

Are metal ceilings environmentally friendly?

Metal ceilings are often recyclable at the end of their life. Many systems are made from recycled content, which reduces environmental impact. Their long lifespan also means fewer replacements and less waste. There are a range of EPD documents available for the SAS range of metal ceilings.
