Metal Pan Ceilings

SAS150 is part of our metal pan ceiling range, offering ease of maintenance with a convenient, hinge down access to the ceiling void.

Product Applications

3 Application Types

SAS 150 is a metal pan ceiling tile, which pivots and slides within the grid, minimising damage risk during maintenance as they hang out of harm’s way. Ideally suited to areas requiring frequent maintenance, or zones with high footfall. Potential security risks can be avoided by the use of a simple clip to permanently restrict void access after installation.

SAS 150 is a suspended metal pan ceiling system with clip-in modular tiles and concealed grid.

  • Hinge down access to large areas of ceiling void
  • Secure void (simple access via tool to demount tile)
  • Closed butt joints with bevelled edges as standard
  • Metal pan tiles can be scrubbed without displacing ceiling
  • Concealed grid (SAS Deep Omega Bar suspension method)
  • Minimum 25 year product life expectancy
  • Cradle to Cradle Certified®

Suspended metal pan ceilings supplied by Progressive Materials can be used to create stunning interiors.  The unique design of SAS System 150 allows every full tile to pivot and slide along the grid system. The hinge and slide feature facilitates easy access to large areas of the ceiling void for maintenance; tiles are retained within the ceiling grid avoiding damage and eliminating the need for storage.  The SAS 150 system can be integrated with the full range of metal ceiling products supplied by Progressive Materials.

SAS 150 Ceiling FAQ

What is the SAS150 ceiling system?

The SAS150 ceiling is a metal clip-in ceiling that uses a hidden support frame to create a smooth, clean finish. This SAS150 system works well in commercial, healthcare, and transport buildings where access to the ceiling void is important. It hides all fixings and gives a high-end, modern look.

What are the benefits of using the SAS150 metal ceiling over traditional ceilings?

The SAS150 metal ceiling is stronger and lasts longer than plasterboard or tile ceilings. It resists cracking and sagging, and allows for easy cleaning. The panels can be supplied with a antimicrobial coating to reduce bacteria, making them ideal for clean or sterile areas.

You can also add pads behind the panels to reduce noise. The system installs quickly and is easy to adjust over time.

Is the SAS150 ceiling system easy to install?

Yes. Installers clip the panels into a concealed frame from below, which makes the SAS150 system quick to set up. It allows fast access for future work like wiring or ventilation. This makes it a suitable option for both new construction and refurbishment projects.

How much does a SAS150 metal ceiling cost?

The cost of the system is dependant on tile size, finish, coating, perforation size and the size of the project. The system is very economical and can fit into a range of projects with differing budgets. While it may cost more upfront than other ceiling types, it offers better long-term value thanks to lower maintenance and longer lifespan.

Does the SAS150 ceiling system help with noise control?

Yes. You can add acoustic fleece or pads to the back of the panels to reduce echo and noise. This is a popular option in offices, classrooms, and busy indoor spaces.

Is the SAS150 metal ceiling a good alternative to mineral fibre ceilings?

Absolutely. The SAS150 metal ceiling lasts longer, stays cleaner, and gives better access to the ceiling space. You can remove panels easily without damage to the tile or leaving finger prints or dirt. The tiles can also be easily cleaned, unlike mineral fibre, which cannot be.

What finish and size options does the SAS150 ceiling come in?

The SAS150 system includes panels in a range of sizes and colours. You can choose solid or perforated panels and select any RAL, Interpon or timber effect colours. You can also add coatings for fire safety or hygiene. Lighting, air vents, and other ceiling services are simple to fit into the layout.

Can I hang lights or equipment from a SAS150 ceiling?

Yes, but you must fix anything heavy, like lights or signs, to the structure above, not to the panels themselves. The system allows for planned cut-outs and supports to make this easy.

How is the SAS150 system different from a drop ceiling?

The SAS150 ceiling system hides the support grid, unlike standard drop ceilings that show the frame. It keeps the same easy access but gives a cleaner and more modern look. It’s well-suited to projects that prioritise both visual impact and functional performance.

Does the SAS150 metal ceiling meet Australian standards?

Yes. The SAS150 metal ceiling meets Australian fire, acoustic, and hygiene standards. It complies with the National Construction Code and suits industry-specific requirements. Certificates and test results are available if your project needs them.
