SAS 800

SAS 800 Trucell is a decorative open cell ceiling, for airflow and smoke extraction applications.

Product Applications

1 Application Type

The metal ceiling system comprises a series of open cell modules designed to lay onto a suspension grid. The ceiling tiles can integrate within other metal ceiling systems and plasterboard ceilings.

SAS International’s open cell ceiling systems are ideal for retail, transport or leisure applications with high human traffic flow. Rapid and safe smoke extraction is critical in such environments.

Trucell is a range of aluminium open cell ceiling panels designed to lay onto our 15mm Tee Grid. Access is gained by simply lifting the panels out of the grid.

Trucell blends in with the Tee Grid to give an unbroken, monolithic appearance.

  • Intended for smoke extraction and airflow management
  • Strong modular appearance
  • Simple access to the ceiling void
  • Lightweight, quick and easy to install
  • Minimum 25-year product life expectancy

Standard Module Sizes (mm)

Trucell panels are manufactured from lightweight, pre-coated aluminium folded into U-shape profiles. Each panel has a nominal cell wall thickness of 15mm to give a precise engineered ceiling appearance.Trucell Panels are available in 600 x 600mm modules with a nominal depth of 40mm.

Modules are available in six different cell sizes of (mm): 50×50

SAS 800 Trucell Ceiling FAQ

What is the SAS 800 ceiling system?

SAS 800 is an open cell ceiling system available from Progressive Materials. It allows airflow and smoke to move through the ceiling plane. Tiles lay into a suspended grid for simple installation and easy access to the void.

Where is SAS 800 most commonly used?

It suits high-traffic areas like shopping centres, airports and entertainment venues. These spaces often need fast smoke extraction and strong air circulation. The open cell design supports both.

What are the standard panel sizes?

Panels come in 600 x 600 mm and 600 x 1200 mm formats. Each tile has a standard depth of 40 mm. Custom sizes are available if they match the cell layout.

What cell sizes can you choose?

There are nine standard options. These range from 50 x 50 mm up to 200 x 200 mm. Rectangular sizes are also available, including 100 x 200 mm and 150 x 300 mm. All cell sizes help control how much air and light pass through.

Can SAS 800 be customised?

Yes. Progressive Materials offers bespoke panel sizes, colours and cell layouts. Custom modules must align with the grid system to ensure a clean and consistent finish.

How do you access the ceiling void?

Tiles lift out easily by hand. You can also choose a lift-and-tilt option for areas with limited clearance. Both methods give fast access for services and maintenance.

What finish options are available?

The standard finish is International White pre-coat. You can also choose from the full RAL colour range. Bespoke powder-coated finishes are available on request.

Can SAS 800 support services and lighting?

Yes. You can install lighting, fire detection and air systems in or above the ceiling. LEDs and decorative lighting can sit inside single or multiple cells. This helps maintain a clean and uncluttered look.

What suspension method does SAS 800 use?

The system uses a 15 mm Tee Grid. EMAC hangers and brackets hold the grid in place. This structure supports the tiles and keeps the ceiling stable over time.

How much open area does SAS 800 provide?

Open area depends on the cell size. A 200 x 200 mm cell gives up to 85 percent open space. A 50 x 50 mm cell gives about 49 percent. The more open the cell, the better the airflow and visibility.

How heavy is the system?

SAS 800 weighs around 2.5 kilograms per square metre. The final weight may vary slightly depending on the cell configuration and panel size.

How long does SAS 800 last?

The system is built to last 25 years. Its steel construction and durable finishes make it a reliable choice for commercial interiors.
