Project Overview

The new office space was commissioned during the COVID-19 lockdown and was designed to be as inviting and inclusive as possible to facilitate the transition back to a new and unfamiliar workplace for the teams.
The Dexus building houses DLA Piper on Level 21 and part of Level 22, over 2,600m2 in the premium grade commercial office building.

The design for DLA Piper’s Perth office reflects a high-quality corporate interior whilst also including appropriate public spaces and high-performance workspaces.

The Challenges

Create a welcoming and functional workplace, embracing technology and different, more efficient ways of working with each other and clients,

  • Noise level control for the new open plan desks – prevent high noise levels in the office to embrace the new collaborative environment and ensure a great experience for employees.
  • New break out hub for staff to take a break and connect with each other – Provide a ceiling design that contributes to employee experience, and leaves a lasting impression.
  • Requirement for a two system approach to meet the design requirements for the project. A neat clean acoustic control ceiling for the main office area, and a bold ceiling design for the boardroom. Both of these systems need to add to the aesthetics and acoustics of the project.
  • Meet fire safety requirements and allow easy access to the ceiling void.

The Solutions

The office design is based on the concepts of flexibility, innovation and collaboration, using a combination of offices with a variety of open plan workspaces and meeting rooms for teams to come together, the latest in virtual meeting and AV technology, as well as break out zones and quiet rooms.

Progressive Materials worked closely with the design team at SAS International to provide premium Aesthetic Metal Ceiling Solutions that meet acoustic requirements for each area.

System 750 linear baffles were specified in the main office area and open spaces to provide a dynamic and impactful design along with practical considerations such as access and service integration.

We also supplied SAS330 for the board room, a suspended metal pan ceiling system with lay-in tiles and profile proprietary grid. The design team included acoustic infill tiles to provide sound control, as well as adding to the aesthetic of the meeting area. The design flexibility of SAS 330 allows for complete void access and total service integration. Both functional and aesthetically pleasing in design, the systems incorporate sound absorbing pads to provide outstanding acoustic control.
