Cast in fire collars from Promat save space and installation costs. PROMASEAL® CIH is the latest fire collar from Promat. It is designed to be fixed to form work prior to the pouring of concrete floor slabs. The collar accommodates the uPVC pipe fitting within the thickness of the slab enabling space saving. Cast in fire collars can save
Promat fire resistant collars crush plastic pipes during exposure to fire. In the event of fire, the plastic pipe will start to melt. In the case of uPVC pipes this occurs at a temperature of approximately 70°C. Once the pipe starts to deform, the intumescent material in the Promat fire collar expands, closing off the plastic pipe. This intumescent material forms an insulating barrier which reduces heat transfer between compartments and closes off any gaps to stop the spread of smoke, fire and gas.
There are different types of fire collars for different applications. Promat’s range of cast in fire collars allow for accurate set out of pipe work, and are more cost effective than retro fit collars when a large number are required. Promat’s range of fire collars are tested for all types of building services including; plastic pipes, electrical cables, lagged copper pipes, copper pair coils and other general building services.
For slabs that use lost form work or are less than 120mm thick, please consult Progressive Materials.
