SAS 740 Ceiling FAQ

What is the SAS 740 ceiling system?

SAS 740 is a high-end linear profile ceiling system made from aluminium. Designed for premium interiors, it combines sleek lines with void access and acoustic flexibility. It’s ideal for commercial and architectural spaces where appearance and performance matter.

What makes it different from other linear ceilings?

Unlike standard linear systems, SAS 740 offers full void access and can integrate acoustic infill panels between profiles. It handles complex geometry and allows custom profiles, making it more versatile than most linear options on the market.

Where is SAS 740 typically used?

You’ll often find it in commercial buildings, retail spaces, and feature areas where clean lines and a modern finish are essential. It’s also suitable for interior and exterior applications, offering durability and style across a wide range of environments.

What profiles and sizes are available?

Standard profiles come in dimensions such as 100mm x 25mm, 100mm x 40mm and 100mm x 50mm. The system also supports bespoke shapes, sizes, and waveform profiles, allowing full design freedom.

Can I get custom finishes?

Yes. In addition to all standard SAS finishes, you can request bespoke options, including polished, anodised and timber effect finishes. This makes it suitable for projects that require a tailored aesthetic.

Does SAS 740 support acoustics?

Absolutely. Acoustic tiles can be installed between the profiles, using 16mm deep, 80Kg density mineral wool with black tissue and foil backing. Alternative materials are also available to meet specific acoustic goals (absorption classes A–D).

Is void access possible?

Yes. Despite its continuous linear appearance, profiles can be demounted individually without disrupting the full layout, allowing practical access for ongoing maintenance.

Can lighting and services be integrated with SAS 740?

Yes. The system supports integration of lights, sensors, and other building services. Profiles can be pre-formed or adjusted to include apertures for easy and seamless service access.

What is the weight and durability?

The aluminium profiles weigh between 1.1 and 1.8 kg per linear metre, depending on the configuration. Designed for a 25-year life expectancy, the system offers long-term performance in busy or design-focused environments.

Does SAS 740 comply with performance standards?

Yes. SAS 740 is manufactured to meet stringent performance requirements, including fire, durability, and acoustic standards. It’s suitable for projects that must adhere to industry codes, including the National Construction Code.
