Not all fire rated sealants are the same. For use in commercial projects in Australia, fire rated sealants are required to be tested in line with AS4072.1 and to AS1530.4. Its critical that the contractor selects a sealant product that has fire test approvals that meet these standards. Many imported products available from local hardware stores do not meet the strict requirements for sealing fire penetrations.
